Book Review: Fallen
There’s something achingly familiar about Daniel Grigori.Mysterious and aloof, he captures Luce Price’s attention from the moment she sees him on her first day at the Sword & Cross boarding school in sultry Savannah, Georgia. He’s the one bright spot in a place where cell phones are forbidden, the other students are all screw-ups, and security cameras watch every move.Even though Daniel wants nothing to do with Luce–and goes out of his way to make that very clear–she can’t let it go. Drawn to him like a moth to a flame, she has to find out what Daniel is so desperate to keep secret . . . even if it kills her.–From Goodreads
Cover Inspection:
This cover is one of my favorites of all time! I love the model on the front.

I’m liking Luce a lot!

My Thoughts:
A-MAZING. That is the first word that comes to mind even a week after I finished reading this book. I have to say that it is getting harder and harder to wow me when it comes to books. The more you read, the more difficult it becomes to find something that knocks you completely off your feet. Well my dear friends, this book floored me.
Luce is a delightful protagonist! She pops off the page as this young, vivid and slightly confused woman and I fell in love with her from the first moment she came into the story. The fact that she had a guilty conscience constantly tugging at her only made me more intrigued as to what was going on in her life. In fact, I loved Luce so very much that I wondered why she felt so much more Daniel. In a way, at the beginning of the novel, I was almost angry with her. Why not Cam? He was handsome and doting! Come on girl. Well…let’s just say Luce is smarter than I am.
Daniel, oh Daniel. He may in fact be a “bad boy” of the highest magnitude when we first meet him, but I was drawn to him like a moth to a flame. Lauren Kate writes him so mysteriously, so masked, that I NEEDED to know why he was so anxious to keep Luce at bay. What was he hiding? My favorite part about Daniel in this book is that you don’t even get a hint as to what he’s hiding until half way through the novel. Yup, half way. You would think that would frustrate you but no, it just keeps you reading!
That being said, the second half of the novel was so beautifully written and so intriguing that I literally couldn’t fall asleep until I finished reading it. Fallen is a stunningly well written love story with a paranormal twist. The characters are expertly written and so easy to love. As I said, it floored me. I need a copy of this for my very own. STAT.
