Oh great question Misha! I’m going to have to say yes, however I’m pretty sure everyone has at some point haven’t they? Here’s my story.
When I was younger my mom let me choose whatever extra curricular activities that I wanted. She wasn’t one of those moms who made me take piano, or insisted I take dance. Instead she’d let us try things out and decide what we really wanted to devote our time to. By the age of 12 I had tried horse back riding, all kinds of dancing, all types of crafts, Girl Scouts, piano, the clarinet….the works really.
My friends however, weren’t as forgiving when it came to activities. If you didn’t choose what the “group” chose, well then you just weren’t cool. On pain of being shunned for the span of weeks (*gasp* I know) I remember signing up for a girl scout camp. Part of me wanted to go, but the other part of me was terrified to be away from my mom for such a long time. Still, I signed up and I went!
Long story short….I had a blast! I guess it was one of those instances in which pleasing another person ultimately ended in a fabulous memory for me. Who knows if I would have broken out of my shell if that hadn’t happened. 🙂
