And…Discuss! To Finish, Or Not To Finish?
It’s about that time again! Time for me to choose a topic, ramble about it for a bit, and then open the floor to your opinions. I just want to shout out a huge thank you to everyone who takes part in these discussions! I think they are a ton of fun, and I look forward to them.
This time the topic is….
To Finish, Or Not To Finish?
I will be the first to admit that I sometimes don’t finish books. There are just some books out there that I pick up, start to read, and can’t get into at all. Once in a while I’ll set them aside for a later date. Especially if I feel like I’ve had an overload of one genre for too long. Sometimes though….I look like this….
It might be the plot, or choppy writing, or flat characters, but whatever it is I just can’t wrap my ahead around the overall concept of the book. So with a heavy heart, I put that it aside and move on. My motto? There is too much to read in the world to spend time trying to finish a book I’m not loving.
Still, I always feel guilty. Especially when that book was given to me for review. I’ve more than once powered through a book just to get to the end, only to realize I didn’t really want to review it anyway because I didn’t know what to say.
So what about you, readers?
Do you finish a book you’re not feeling? Or do you set it aside in favor of something else?
