Bookish Spotlight: Melissa from Oh My Word Melly
Welcome to a new post series here on Hopelessly Devoted Bibliophile! Back when I first started this blog, I used to interview other bloggers and share their content. I’ve missed doing that so much! It was a great way to get to know others who share the same passion, and give some much deserved love to amazing creators. So, it’s time to do that again! Check this space every other Saturday for a new spotlight, and click here if you’d like to sign up to be a spotlight yourself!
Our spotlight today is Melissa from Oh My Word Melly!
Instagram | YouTube
I am so very pleased to welcome Melissa to the blog! This is the first time that I’ve had a certified BookTuber on here, and I can tell you that I had a blast investigating her channel. I have tons of love for the book lovers out there who make YouTube content for us to enjoy. It’s not everyone who can take the time to plan, film, and then edit their work into something that is just a joy to watch. It’s fantastic! Even better, Melissa also has a lovely Instagram that pairs with her channel perfectly. Please check out the examples of both below!
Okay, time for me to stop rambling, and let you all get to know Melissa a bit better. Please enjoy a short interview with her below, and don’t forget to take some time to go and visit her wonderful content!
Lightning round questions! Please answer with 15 words or less:
One book I would always recommend is Pink & Country by Emmanuelle Snow or any book by her!
If I had to pick a favorite genre it would be Romance because I love following the journey of the characters as they fall in love.
I would describe myself as someone who loves talking about books with an addiction to buying more books than I read.
Can you share why you decided to start a bookstagram/blog?
I have loved reading since I was a kid and had very few friends who read as much as I do. Most of my friends used to get me to explain and review every book I read instead of actually reading it themselves. Being a fan of booktube myself and life in this pandemic inspired me to start a Booktube channel and Bookstagram so that I can come up with bookish content and share my thoughts on books with others with similar interests.
I actually transformed my personal IG account to bookstagram because I used to post more bookish content on it. Now I have so many bookish friends from all over the world including authors who stay connected.
What is your favorite part about the bookish community?
All the book hauls 😍, buddy reads, book recommendations, and reviews! My To Be Read (TBR) list is constantly growing thanks to the bookish community. Crossing paths with like-minded readers through reviews and bonding with them and being able to meet and interact with so many authors who are more like friends, are added bonuses.
If we were to peek into your space right now, what collections (other than books of course) would we find?
Hahaha, love this! In addition to my 8-5 job and my BookTube/Bookstagram I am also a hobby baker. You will definitely find a whole bunch of baking utensils that I may or may not need along with ingredients, lots of chocolate chips, and jars and jars of homemade salted caramel.
Where is your favorite place to read, and what absolutely needs to be there to make it feel perfect?
We have a new couch with a chaise lounge attacI could read anywhere actually. I read while travelling even on the busiest trains. However, my absolute favourite place to read is in bed. It is perfect when the temperature is not overly warm, my phone is on silent, and I am in my comfy PJs.
Lastly, what is one page (bookstagram or blog) that inspires you and you would LOVE to share with others?
DoOh, My Word! I have so many that have inspired me. However, I would love to mention @booksandcoffeelk and @reading_malevolence who are bookstagrammers as well as booktubers like me. @bibliosini is also a bookstagrammer and a book blogger I would love to call out. They always inspire and support me too.
Our next spotlight will be in three weeks! Until then, happy reading.
