Sick Day and Cozy Reading
My body and I have been battling one another to see who is stronger, and I’m honestly so tired of being continuously sick with one thing or another. Right now I’m fighting through yet another ear infection, and being extremely grateful for the existence of audio books. There’s nothing like being able to close your eyes and just rest while still hearing a story. Especially since, up until yesterday, reading a regular book was just not on the table. Haha. Thank goodness for amazing narrators.
All of this made me stop to think about how important cozy reading is in my life. I don’t just mean being cozy while reading, although that’s definitely something I very much enjoy. But also finding stories that have the power to transport me far, far away while I am lost within their pages. Stories that are warm, full of kindness, and ones where I know my favorite characters will come out on top no matter what else happens to them. I think it’s a matter of needing someone else to be brave when I’m having a hard time with that? Cozy stories are my happy place.
If you’re one of the few people who haven’t yet read Legends & Lattes by Travis Bauldree, let me please tell that is an excellent specimen of a cozy read. Yes, there are small issues that the characters must overcome. Life is full of mild annoyances and problems that feel at the time much larger than they are. However this particular book shows how the right people, and the right attitude, make things so much easier to tackle. It’s full of warmth, laughter and just all around adorable interactions. I absolutely love it with all my heart.
Do you have a favorite comfort read or cozy read? Something that you keep coming back to when times get tough? I’d love to know!
