Top Ten Tuesday: New-to-Me Authors I Discovered in 2024
Hello friends, and happy Tuesday! Here’s hoping that the week so far is treating you kindly, and that you have some good reads on deck to escape from reality when necessary. It finally rained here in LA and, thankfully, that means the fires here are under control. Now it’s a matter of watching for mudslides and ash run-off. If you have some funds to give, LA firefighters and displaced families can still use your help! It’s going to take a while to get everything back to even semi-normal. Don’t forget about them, okay?
New-to-Me Authors I Discovered in 2024
2024 was my year back to reading. For many life reasons, I barely read at all 2023, even for comfort. My brain just couldn’t focus on the pages. In 2024 though I did a lot of healing and much more reading. I was very happy about it! So here are some authors that I found during that time. It’s alas not ten, but I did manage to round up six! Top SIX Tuesday let’s go!
Megan Tady
I stumbled upon Bluebird Day in my library app, looking for a book that was available to borrow without a wait. After starting the audio version, I fell in love. (Review here.) I can’t wait to read Tady’s other book, Super Bloom, this year.
Jenn Lyons
Another random library pick, this one because I was in the mood for something exciting. Well, I got what I asked for! I also got unexpected found family, some beautifully done consent, and some spicy parts that made me question whether I should have been listening to this at work. I will be back for more, mark my words.
Premee Mohamed
I follow this author on Bluesky, and saw a post talking about this book. Immediately I ran to Libby to see if it was available, and I was in luck! This novella was excellent. The audio was gorgeously narrated, and I enjoyed it so much I bought a physical copy for another read-through. I’ll have a review of this soon!
Katherine Center
Can I admit that I picked up The Bodyguard because of the cover? Because I did. Another audio copy that I picked up and immediately fell in love with. (Review here.) This story is so cute. So cute! I enjoyed it immensely and I have two more of her books on my reading list for this year.
Rebecca Ross
My husband came back from a work convention with COVID three weeks before we were supposed to go to Hawaii. So the two of us had to quarantine from one another. I went on an audio book binge, and found Divine Rivals in a list of “must-read” books. Friends, I devoured this book. Then I went on to read two more of her books.
June Hur
On my book discord, we often have random buddy reads where someone picks up a book and says “does anyone else want to read this?” and we all jump on board. A Crane Among Wolves was one of this picks, and I had an absolute blast reading it. The Red Palace is now on my wishlist at the library. Just waiting for my turn.
That’s it for me! What authors did you find in 2024 that became your new favorites? Share your posts in the comments below, and I’ll come on by and check out your picks too!

I’m so glad L.A. is finally getting some rain. We got some last night here in the Phoenix area too, which we also really need.
I’ve only read a few of Center’s books, but I’ve enjoyed all of them. They’re great for escaping reality!
Happy TTT!

Premee Mohamed’s book looks interesting. My Libby does not have The Annual Migration of Clouds, but it does have The Butcher of the Forest – have you read it?

I started it, but unfortunately I had to return it to the library before I was able to finish it. I can tell you that the first 4 chapters were wonderful, haha!

I’m so glad you’ve gotten some rain. It’s awful seeing the devastation done on the news.
I really want to check out Divine Rivals and The Sky On Fire sometime. What other Rebecca Ross books dis you read? Hopefully we’ll both get to The Red Palace this year too then if you’re in the waitlist. It sounds so good.
By the way the link under your name when you comment doesn’t work (I think maybe you’ve changed your name since as its different than the one you’ve shared in the TTT link.

Aw darn, thanks for letting me know! WordPress can be so finicky sometimes.
I read Divine Rivals, then went straight into Ruthless Vows. After that one of my book club friends wanted to read A River Enchanted, so I tackled that too. I still think Divine Rivals was my favorite, but honestly they were all good in their own right!

I hope you can get it sorted out.
I’m glad you enjoyed all three of them. I find it promising that Divine Rivals was your favourite though as I read A River Enchanted and had mixed feelings. I enjoyed it but not as much as I’d expected to and for some reason I connected to the secondary characters much more than the main ones I hope you enjoy whatever you read next by her.
