    Just Another Random Wednesday Update

Hi there, it’s me again! Rambling at you, because my brain is full of notes for book reviews and yet work is so busy that I don’t have time to sit down and actually write them. Some day I’ll show you the random notes I scribble, hurriedly jotting my feelings down as I read and try to figure out how to aptly explain how a certain part of a book makes me feel. It’s a lot of fun to get so caught up in a book that I forget, but then it also makes it harder for me to write…

Book Review: Thanks for Listening by Molly Horan

Perfect for fans of Loveless and You Should See Me in a Crown, this wry and insightful novel from the author of Epically Earnest features a sweet ace romance and a secret social media advice account that goes wonderfully, terribly astray. Mia knows what she’s talking about. Class schedules, significant others, existential life crises—you name it, she’s talked someone through it. The problem? No one actually takes her advice. So when her latest round of (very sensible!) guidance is ignored, resulting in a class flyer stapled to her best friend’s arm and her brother going steady with a girl he…

Book Review: The Bright Sword by Lev Grossman

A gifted young knight named Collum arrives at Camelot to compete for a spot on the Round Table, only to find he’s too late. The king died two weeks ago at the Battle of Camlann, leaving no heir, and only a handful of the knights of the Round Table survive. They aren’t the heroes of legend, like Lancelot or Gawain. They’re the oddballs of the Round Tables, from the edges of the stories, like Sir Palomides, the Saracen Knight and Sir Dagonet, Arthur’s fool, who was knighted as a joke. They’re joined by Nimue, who was Merlin’s apprentice until she…

Top Ten Tuesday: Bookish Goals for 2025

Hello friends, and happy Tuesday! As you probably saw from my post on Sunday, last week was a rough one. My workplace still hasn’t allowed us to come back in physically, and it kind of feels like I’m living in a weird in-between place. But things are slowly getting better, and the outpouring of community love to those who need it most has been amazing. People can be wonderful, and they can surprise you. Bookish Goals for 2025 I kind of started this post when the year started, but I’ve had some time to sit down and really think about…

    It’s Been a Slow Start

How are we feeling now that we’ve almost reached the mid-point of the month my friends? I’m feeling a little overwhelmed if I’m being honest. We’re 12 days in and I have yet to actually finish a book. Although, to be fair, it doesn’t help much that all the books I started were long. I should be done with one later today, and another late tomorrow, and so I’ll have reviews for you soon! I’m just not going to rush myself this year. We get there when we get there. Of course it hasn’t helped at all that LA has…

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? (1/6/25)

Happy Monday my reader friends! The year has just begun, and I’m pleased to report that I’ve started it with a lot of great reads. Pretty much all in progress if I’m being honest. But hey, that’s the way to start things off, right? New year, same me. The reader who starts four books at the same time because she’s a glutton for punishment hahaha. Let’s take a look at where things are this week, shall we? Read Last Week: Last week I finished one last book when The Pretty Ones by Ania Ahlborn came in on my library hold…

    Hello there, 2025.

Well, best laid plans and all that. I didn’t schedule my 2024 wrap-up posts ahead of time because I knew I’d be off and have plenty of time to write them…. and then I got sick. Like, stuck in bed, tissues everywhere, head feels like it might explode sick. So yeah, at least we got wrap-up post up! But here’s a quick summary of 2024: Now did I actually read the books on my shelves? Well… not so much. So that’s going on my goals for this year. I want to: I’ll be honest, I’m not great at sticking to…
