Movie Review: The Losers
Every once in a while I find a movie that I want to chat about with others, but unfortunately there’s no one around. SO you, my dear reader friends, get to hear my commentary? Aren’t you the lucky ones? *** Are you a fan of action movies? Do movies with quick moving plots and lots of explosions make you smile inside? Is your weapon of choice a rocket launcher? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then The Losers is definitely a movie for you! After being trapped in my apartment yesterday sick, I needed an escape. The…

Movie Review: Tangled
Every once in a while I find a movie that I want to chat about with others, but unfortunately there’s no one around. SO you, my dear reader friends, get to hear my commentary? Aren’t you the lucky ones? *** Absolutely adorable. If I had to describe Tangled in one word, it would be: delightful! This movie was sweet, it was funny, it was just an all around good time. Even my boyfriend, who I have to drag to animated movies most times, was sitting next to me laughing hysterically at the screen. Disney hit it out of the park…

Movie Review: Machete
Every once in a while I find a movie that I want to chat about with others, but unfortunately there’s no one around. SO you, my dear reader friends, get to hear my commentary? Aren’t you the lucky ones? *** Am I the only one who thought this movie was a joke when it was a trailer in the Grindhouse double feature? Not that I’m angry it’s real! In fact I was pretty excited. Yes friends, side note on me, I’m a teenage guy at heart. I love TWSS jokes, I think death by decapitation is pretty darn cool and…

Following those dreams.
This is my brother. Very recently he graduated from Le Cordon Bleu and is now a bonafied chef! Yup, my little brother all grown up and moving on in life. Working in a kitchen, lovingly preparing food, doing what he loves. *wipes tears* I’m really proud of him, and I made sure to let him know it. It’s funny really, because as the older sister I’m supposed to teach him. I’m supposed to impart some type of “older child” wisdom to lead him through his life. In all honesty…he’s doing great buy himself. In fact he is MY inspiration at…

Some things I’ve learned.
I was going to post a Teaser Tuesday post, but then I decided I’d rather spend this post writing to all you fabulous readers. Memes are great, but what I really want is for you to know that I enjoy posting in here and I’m willing to spend time writing more when I have that time! The two month anniversary of this blog is slowly approaching, and it is still surreal to me. On April 17th, I finished reading through my gigantic list of book blogs and was feeling so happy! There were so many great books coming out. How…

A conversation with the kids.
If you haven’t been following my blog since the beginning, you might not know that I work with kids. Well, actually you probably know because I constantly talk about them…lol. I even read books specifically geared FOR them so that I can find things they’ll enjoy. What can I say? I don’t have any children yet, so each and every one of those little faces are my happiness. At least they’re mine temporarily :). Today we started a conversation about libraries. Me: So what do you all think about going to the library this month? Class: YEAAAAHHHHH! When are we…

Saturdays
Increasingly Saturdays seem to be a difficult day for me to post :). I suppose that’s a good thing because it means I have lots of fun things to do! I’ll try to schedule my posts from now on ahead of time, but if I miss a Saturday don’t you fret! I’ll be back on Sunday! Check back tomorrow for a review of No and Me by Delphine De Vigan!

Excitement!
If you could see me right now, you would know that I have a HUGE smile on my face :). I am in slight shock! This morning I signed up for NetGalley after hearing about it on Lifehacker and seeing it mentioned on a few other blogs. It looked promising! You can request e-galleys of books (.pdf files, e-books, etc.) for review and the list on there is growing! (NetGalley will be getting it’s own dedicated post Friday, so if you have comments or questions on it come back then for sure!) Anyhow, I happened to come upon Kersten Hamilton’s…

How reviewing has made me grow as a reader!
So to those of you who have been reading my blog this last week, you know I am fairly new at this whole book blogging thing. I saw so many amazing blogs around me, discussing books, giving them away, sharing the love, and I decided that I wanted to be a part of that too! I couldn’t believe how many new books I discovered just from following these blogs. (See my journey into YA here if you want to know how that happened.) My two loves, books…and yarn. Right before that, I had set a goal for myself for 2010.…

My journey into YA and how it relates to this blog!
Since this blog is really new, I thought I’d share a little more about myself with my readers! This post is all about my journey into Young Adult literature. Let me begin by saying that I am 25 years old. Do I feel old? No. However I do realize that to many people, I am not longer considered to fall into the “Young Adult” category. It’s funny really. Ever since I first picked up a YA novel I have been smitten. To me, the best part about this fiction category is that it is so fun to read and crosses…
