Some Monday Ramblings
Lately I’ve been doing a whole lot of this: and not so much of this: I’ve been in this space where I just want to CONSUME ALL THE BOOKS, but reviews aren’t coming as easily as they normally do. That might be because of what I’ve been reading lately. Halloween Bingo always brings out books that are outside of what I normally read and, while that’s fantastic, I don’t always know how to process them. I’m a Fantasy/YA/MG kinda gal. Give me a Southern Noir book, that has me bawling by the ending, and you have a babbling mess. I…

Is it Fall yet?
Once upon a time, I was the most summery person who ever existed. I craved sunshine, beach days, and backyard parties. Then, I graduated from college, moved away from the beach, and now I’ve become a Fall and Spring girl through and through. Bring on cool mornings, chilly evenings, and drizzle to walk around in. Bring on the first open flowers, overcast afternoons, and any excuse to sip a hot cup of tea while reading a book. IS IT FALL YET? *sigh* At least my reading this month will accurately reflect the seasons that I’m eagerly waiting for. Remember, September…

Gearing up for Halloween Bingo!
It’s nearing the end of August and I am ECSTATIC. September and October may not necessarily be cold in Southern California, but they still herald the beginning of cooler temperatures, sweaters, baking time and HORROR BOOKS. Yup, that’s right. This is the 2nd year in a row that I’m participating in a Halloween Bingo game on Booklikes, and I’ve come to love this part of the year for its scary and mysterious reads. I’m so ready! Here is my super cool bingo card, and all the books I’m pondering reading for the squares are listed below. You can expect to…

Happy August!
Depending on where you are in the world it’s either August today, or it will be very soon. Can you believe that an entire month of summer has already flown by? Hopefully it was as relaxing for you as it is for Pikachu up there. Tina’s been valiantly holding down the fort here for me, while I’ve been swamped in work. Things should be headed back to normal now though, and that’s a great feeling! I have a massive backlog of reviews for all the books I’ve read, and also some fun stuff to share with you that I get…

Slowly, so slowly.
It’s been a month, y’all. I’m coming up on my birthday weekend, which has made me realize that June is almost over and WOW it’s flown by. Work has been so insanely busy, sickness overtook me, books have been slowly (very slowly) read, and I haven’t had the motivation to write a review. All of my intentions to stockpile reviews posts have been thwarted, and so this blog sits empty more than it should. *sigh* The good news this year is that I haven’t fallen into a horrible reading slump like I normally do around this time. I’ve still been…

Post Holiday Weekend Feels
Hey bookish people! So you may remember that I took a vacation recently and, to my surprise, did pretty much no reading. Hahaha. I watched a ton of Netflix, did cross stitch projects, and worked in the garden. I just never really fell into that reading place. Honestly a first, and it felt SO WEIRD. So when the holiday weekend rolled around, it felt amazing to get back into the groove. I knocked out the endings of three books (yes, I’m that kind of person) that I was part way through. I caught up to my reading goal. It was…

Happy Mother’s Day and Bout of Books eve!
Greetings my lovely reader friends! Long time no talk. For those that celebrate it, Happy Mother’s Day! Being a mom is so rewarding in so many ways, unfortunately getting more reading/blogging done isn’t one of those ways. I have two kids under 3 so my days are full and my nights are sometimes fuller. They bring a lot of joy to my life but I do miss those moments where I could curl up with a good book and just read ALLLLLLL day long. Luckily, every few months a fabulous read-a-thon event comes along that motivates me to TRY to…

Just breathe, and move forward.
This is what I’ve been trying to do lately. Truthfully most of my time and effort has been concentrated on just keeping things in this tenuous balance that I’ve built. It’s like I’m holding this massive stack of very expensive plates on a really, really small pedestal. One false move, and the whole stack goes crashing to the ground. No pressure, right? The nice thing is that it’s been easier this time around. All the work that I’ve been doing on myself, and on the environments around me, has really helped me find a stronger center. It makes that scary…

The Slump.
Hi everyone! No, we’re not gone. Promise. Busy, yes? Slightly overwhelmed? Definitely. Not gone though. Here trying to keep things flowing as much as possible. Every April and May is a whirlwind of weekends spent celebrating birthdays, baby showers, and Mother’s Day. I’ve barely had time to breathe on the weekends and, honestly, when I do I don’t feel like blogging. It’s been a rough go lately in terms of review writing. So here’s a quick look at what we do already have scheduled for this month: Tina will be reviewing Accidental Tryst, Love Hack, Ray Vs. The Meaning of…
