Over the years, my writing has run the gamut. I’ve dabbled in poetry, crafted legal briefs, written impassioned pleas to Congress, delved into Greek mythology, explored non-fiction, and most recently, embraced the sultry world of erotic romance.
My writing roots trace back to law school and my time as an attorney, where words were my weapon and storytelling my craft. But it wasn’t until years later, while crisscrossing the country for my kids’ tennis tournaments, that my love for romance novels truly ignited. Reading on the road became an obsession, and before I knew it, my love of writing and passion for romance collided. That fusion resulted in the publication of two erotic romance novels and ideas for plenty more to come.
What Inspires My Writing?
DRAMA!
I crave it on the page and on the screen (hello, medical dramas!) Romance, at its core, is a journey through love and pain. The best stories make you cry for the characters, feel their heartbreak, and then celebrate their joy.
And yes, I’ve got a bit of a naughty streak. Where that came from, who knows? But I’ve always loved a cheeky innuendo, a titillating double entendre, and the thrill of wordplay. Even back in college, while studying engineering, I entertained myself by turning dry theorems into risqué mnemonics. Writing sizzling romance is just a natural extension of that playful energy.
Why I Write About the Twenties Transition
The twenties are fascinating and raw. It is a transformative phase of life. It’s like a coming-of-age story with more complexity and fewer cringe moments. This stage is rife with career shifts, identity questions, and unanticipated detours. Even for those fresh out of law (like many of my characters), it’s rarely a straight path. I find that I can relate to my characters, as my career in law went sideways when life threw me a few curve balls. The twenties transition is the perfect backdrop for the drama and discovery that fuel my stories.
Exploring Polyamory
I love writing about polyamory for its endless layers of connection and its focus on honest communication. Polyamory normalizes the idea that love isn’t a one-size-fits-all experience. It offers infinite relational dynamics. Even within a simple throuple, there are four unique connections: A-B, B-C, A-C, and A-B-C.
One of my favorite aspects of polyamory is the concept of compersion, that warm, fulfilling happiness you feel when your partner finds joy with some else. It’s a beautiful reminder that love is abundant, not limited, and I want to help normalize polyamory as a valid, enriching relationship model.
Where the Magic Happens
If you want to see where the sparks of my creativity fly, you’ll have to join me in the shower. Seriously! That’s where the hottest ideas (pun intended) come to life, under the soothing spray of water. My poor water heater can barely keep up.
So, indulge in life’s guilty pleasures, whether a steamy romance novel or a sweet treat (baking is my other passion).
