It’s Monday! What Are You Reading? (1/6/25)
Happy Monday my reader friends!
The year has just begun, and I’m pleased to report that I’ve started it with a lot of great reads. Pretty much all in progress if I’m being honest. But hey, that’s the way to start things off, right? New year, same me. The reader who starts four books at the same time because she’s a glutton for punishment hahaha.
Let’s take a look at where things are this week, shall we?
Read Last Week:
Last week I finished one last book when The Pretty Ones by Ania Ahlborn came in on my library hold list. It was a nice short audio book, and so I decided it would be a nice way to end the year! Plus I love a good spooky story. I’d rate this one a solid 3/5 stars. It was fun, even though I did figure out the ending early on.
Currently Reading:
I’m firmly stuck in a Fantasy reading streak right now, likely because I’m craving escapism and the idea that the smallest good deeds can change the entire world. You’ve seen the real world, so I’m sure you know what I mean. The Book That Wouldn’t Burn is my first Mark Lawrence book but it will absolutely not be my last! This book is grand. A sweeping fantasy that is based in a library larger than you could possibly comprehend. I am fascinated. The Bright Sword is equally amazing, set in the land of King Arthur and full of all manner of fabulous characters. Between these two, I am so very happy.
Reading Next:
My book Discord group chose Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norell as our monthly read this time around. The prompt was “a book I want off my damned TBR” and I’m cracking up that we all had the same idea. This book has been on my bookshelves for somewhere around 10 years. It has moved two apartments and our permanent home with me. Will it finally get read this time? I think so!
That’s it for me! What are you reading this week?

I’ve read a few books by Ahlborn but I’ve never heard of that one. I’m always looking for shorter books from time to time so I think I will check that one out.

This was my first one, so I’m open to any recommendations if you liked others!
